The 10th Amendment

495px-constitution_pg1of4_ac2Texas Governor Rick Perry spoke to a crowd gathered at the Don’t Mess With Texas Tea Party on April 15th. He talked about the 10th Amendment to the Constitution saying that the Federal Government has voilated the concept of States Rights.

The 10th Amendment says:

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

For a long time, the Federal Government has been expanding it’s reach. The 10th Amendment says that powers not specifically granted to the Federal Government belong to the states or to the people. So, it must be said that the far reaching programs that create big bureaucracies and even larger tax burdens are unconstitutional.

If people don’t speak up about the erosion of their Constitutional rights, we will all find ourselves regretting that we didn’t speak up while we had the chance. It is important to let all of our elected representatives know how you feel.

Speak up for the “unalienable rights” which we were endowed by our creator.
